The support given by research scientists and extension officers is critical in communicating knowledge and information to farmers in helping them find new solutions to changing pest management problems. This section provides information and ideas of value in integrating research and extension activities with other stakeholder activity in improving IPM in practice, including:

• the role that participatory workshops in improving stakeholder participation.
• farmer decision making and how to conduct farmer surveys.
• farmer field schools, media campaigns and other means of implementing IPM.
